More about Jillian…
Known for being an “expressive and energetic knockout” (Dayton Daily News), Jillian is an NYC based triple threat. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Jillian earned her BA in Theatre, Dance, and Performance Technology from the University of Dayton with a concentration in Dance and a minor in Music Performance. A member of the 2021 Open Jar Residency program, Jillian has been mentored by Broadway’s best to have a captivating career both on the stage and screen.
Under the direction of Jeff Whiting, Jillian has had the opportunity to train with Broadway dance legends, (Susan Stroman, Judine Somerville, Jack Sippel, Timothy Hughes, Afra Hines) voice coaches, (Stacia Fernandez, Joey Contreras, Brian Russell-Carey) and actors (Carol Rosenfeld, Christopher Gurr, Kate Baldwin). Jillian describes her time with Open Jar as transformative and extraordinary.
Ms. Mitchell’s recent stage credits include Eve in Children of Eden, Roxie Hart in Chicago, and Rosina in The Barber of Seville. Jillian has had the privilege of being a featured soloist with numerous Symphony Orchestras and has a background/passion for performing with the Children’s Traveling Opera. This is an arts based outreach program where Jillian sings classical roles in full costume to bring music and performance to the next generation of performers. Jillian hopes to continue working with programs like this throughout her career.
Now residing in New York City, Jillian is a member of the Cecilia Chorus of New York. She recently performed Carmina Burana in concert at Carnegie Hall with conductor Mark Shapiro and the Grammy Award Winning Sandbox Percussion. Additionally, Ms. Mitchell participated in a 29 Hour Reading of the new musical Heartbreakers in Hell playing the role of Helen/Young Hopeful. Jillian can be heard on the Heartbreakers in Hell EP created by composer Joey Contreras on all streaming platforms. Jillian regularly performs at the infamous Don’t Tell Mama nightclub.
